Capitonnè Padding: Capitonné is a type of padding for sofas , armchairs or headboards born around 1800 . This padding is worked entirely by hand and quilted to form cushions arranged in a network of squares or lozenges (rhombuses). The quilt fabric is fastened with buttons or studs. Originally the capitonné padding was made up of capiton , from which the name derives, i.e. the waste from silk processing.
